About

These three trainers are designed to teach you to learn to type.

The Typing Trainer takes you through all the keys of the Thai keyboard in 50 graded lessons

The Speed Trainer provides opportunity for more practice typing short passages.

The Custom Trainer allows you to provide your own text for further typing practice

Typing Trainer

Select the "Typing Trainer" tab to display the trainer. Read the notes for each lesson, then type the Thai text displayed towards the bottom of the screen. As you type the current letter to be typed will be displayed in green. If you make a mistake the letter will turn red and you'll need to try again. As you complete a line, the next line will be displayed until the current lesson is complete. You'll then be presented with a screen which gives you the choice either to repeat the lesson, or move on to the next one. At any time you can also use the list box in the bottom right of the screen to jump to any of the 50 levels.

Your keyboard must be set to Thai layout before you start typing. If it's not, you'll get a pop-up message reminding you of this. (Technically, the keyboard must be set to the Thai Kedmanee layout. This is overwhelmingly the most common Thai keyboard layout.)

Note that the "Last Character Typed" textbox must have focus to receive the characters as you type them. If you click somewhere else on the screen you'll need to click on this textbox to continue.

If your browser is showing a search bar at the bottom of your screen the positioning of certain fields will be incorrect. It's best to close any such search bar.

Speed Trainer

Select the "Speed Trainer" tab to display the trainer, then select one of the 8 lessons using the buttons on the left of the screen. Type the displayed paragraph into the text box underneath it. At the end of each paragraph press "Enter". After you complete the final paragraph a screen will be displayed showing how many words you typed, the number of errors made and your wpm (words per minute) speed. You're also given the opportunity either to reset the trainer, allowing you to select a different lesson, or to repeat the current lesson.

Custom Trainer

Select the "Custom Trainer" tab to display the trainer. Paste your chosen text into the textarea, then click on the "Start" button. Once you've done this the first paragraph of your text will be displayed. Type it and press enter. The next paragraph will then be displayed. After you complete the final paragraph a screen will be displayed showing how many words you typed, the number of errors made and your wpm (words per minute) speed. You're also given the opportunity either to reset the trainer, allowing you to select a different lesson, or to repeat the current lesson.

The trainer stores the last 15 texts you paste into it. To recall a previously stored text, click on the button on the left which corresponds to it. The button title is based upon the first few words of the text. (Some older browsers may not be able to store texts. In this case no buttons will appear on the left hand side of the screen.)
